The T is for the shape of the heater. Tee style.
Bath heaters are designed to maintain 104 degree bath water.
They will not heat up cold water.
The second you turn your pump on in your whirlpool jetted tub the temperature will begin to drop due to the influx of colder air into the water.
To combat this temperature decrease it is wise to install a maintenance heater such as this one to keep your bath water nice and warm during periods of long usage.
There is a built-in thermostat that will turn the heater on once the water temperature drops below 104 degrees.
The thermostat is preset and not adjustable. The consumer product safety commission has determined that 104 degrees is the safest water temperature for a jetted bathtub.
A built-in pressure switch is installed to prevent the heater from coming on when there is not adequate water flow going through the heater.
This prevents the phenomenon of DRY FIRING or BURING UP the heating element from happening.
This heater has an indicator light that will light up when it is on.
There is also a HI LIMIT safety switch on the heater that will shut the heater off if the temperature goes above 108 degrees.
If this HI LIMIT switch trips the heater will not come on until it is manually reset. You must push the RED HI LIMIT button to reset it.
